If your system does not work correctly and an antivirus program fails to detect suspicious files, you can always open the Task Manager and try finding the problematic process manually. This requires a lot of patience and many Google searches. If you do not have time for this, Anti-Spy.Info offers a better solution. It works like the standard Windows Task Manager, but it offers a wider range of information and options. It makes it easy to spot dangerous processes and it lets you decide what to do with them.

The software is available for Windows XP, Vista and Win 7 and it comes in 20 languages. The installation kit is 2 Mb large, which should not be too much to download. Although it is unlikely, if you have trouble with the setup process, you will find step by step instructions on the developer's web page.

Your running processes can be found in a large list on the interface. Besides their names and icons, you will see their type (Internet, DLL, Service, etc), a short description and information about the manufacturer. You can toggle other details, such as memory, CPU usage, path and others, with the options in the View menu.

The most important information in the list is an application's rating. It is a colored progress bar with a percentage. If an application is dangerous, the rating will be higher. Selecting an entry in the list will display additional information on the lower part of the interface. You will find information about the developer of the application and what the application does. Each task the software is capable of performing is rated as harmless or dangerous, and an overall rating is displayed beneath this information. An application can be harmless, mostly harmless, potentially dangerous and so on.

If you find a dangerous application, you can select it and click the Remove button on the toolbar. A series of radio buttons will appear on a separate window and you can use these to end the process, quarantine it or uninstall it. In case you are not sure about an application or process, a Google button is available on the toolbar. Clicking it, while a process is selected, will open your default browser with search results for that process. By default, Anti-Spy.Info will display non-critical processes, but if you want to see all of them, you only need to click the Windows processes button on the toolbar.

Pros:
Anti-Spy.Info offers much more than the standard Windows Task Manager. It shows you which applications are safe and which are dangerous and it provides you with information about each of them.

Cons:
There is nothing serious to complain about when using this program.

The information and options Anti-Spy.Info places at your disposal will help you prevent serious damage to your system. With a few mouse clicks, you can disable any harmful application.
